Mills & Cahill Win Over $3.9 Million Verdict in Fall-Down Case

Maria Cahill and Jack Mills received a verdict on September 6, 2024 in Waterbury, on a tough premises liability case in which their client fell down a set of exterior stairs and sustained injuries. The cause of the fall was highly disputed, and statements documented in several medical records were aggressively used by the defense to try and prove the fall was the plaintiff’s own fault. The defendant never made any offer to settle prior to trial.

The jury returned a plaintiff’s verdict of $3,675,000. Plaintiff’s wife had a loss of consortium claim for which the jury awarded $250,000. Total combined verdict was $3,925,000. With interest, the verdict will total a little over $4.5 million.
